What is GO FISH!

To bring the children of Missouri closer to the fish, forest and wildlife that surround them, the Missouri Department of Conservation has launched the GO FISH! angler education program.

The program introduces (or reintroduces) St. Louis area children to the wonderful world of fishing and encourages a greater appreciation of conservation. GO FISH! is designed for children ages 7-15 and offers free instruction and fishing opportunities. All necessary equipment is provided by Missouri Department of Conservation at no charge.

GO FISH! programs are available from April through September, 2010 at four St. Louis area Conservation Fishing Centers: Bellefontaine Conservation Area, Forest Park, Suson Park and August A. Busch Conservation Area.

To make a reservation for a GO FISH! program, please call 636-441-4554.

GO FISH! relies heavily upon dedicated mentors and volunteers who are enthusiastic about teaching young anglers all about fishing. Volunteers are trained by Missouri Department of Conservation and provided with everything needed to teach anglers the “Seven Hooks.”

Volunteers must attend GO FISH! Volunteer Training held on April 24, 2010 at the Jim Tom Blair Building (St. Louis Regional Office) located in the August A. Busch Memorial Conservation Area.

For more information, call 636-441-4554.

If you are ready become a GO FISH! volunteer, fill out the application at http://mdc.mo.gov/13099 and mail to:
